Rapidly becoming as well-known for their philanthropic gestures as well as the outstanding service provided, Team Direct are delighted to announce that once again Exmouth’s flagship taxi company and their generous divers have come to the fore in aid of supporting local causes.

For the past eight years Direct have transported Becky Critchlow to school and college and were understandably delighted to hear that Becky has won a coveted place at a top university in the north of England. Nothing untoward or unusual about that, possibly, but Becky is not your usual young lady.

Becky is physically disabled and has had to rely on a wheelchair for many years now, and earlier this year Direct embarked on a fund-raising campaign monies to provide Becky with a brand-new state of the art electric mobility chair in order to help enable her to fulfil her ambitions.

For co-owner Nicola, this was a no-brainer. “We at Direct firmly believe in supporting our local community and what better way to demonstrate this than by empowering this remarkable young lady as she embarks on the start of a long and successful journey. Becky has been an inspiration to us all, and we are delighted that we were able to reciprocate the loyalty shown to us by her in this way.”

The Park Public House in Exmouth played host to a raffle, with local businesses donating gifts and prizes, and live band “The Navigators” generously gave of their time and provided the perfect back-drop for the successful event.

Similarly, Ian Boyd and The Beach Public House provided the music and atmosphere for another large collection, ensuring the full sum would be raised.

A special mention has to be given to B-Mobile and of course to all the drivers, operators and members of the public who gave so generously to make this event such a success.

Tony sums things up thus: “For us, this has been a highly rewarding experience, being able to assist somebody in such a beneficial manner really drives home what can be achieved when the community rallies round and supports one of their own. Becky has demonstrated her loyalty to us over the years and now it is our turn to show our appreciation.”
